The Golden Box taught by Michelle Danner is a two-day in depth lecture that breaks down the technical map
used at The Michelle Danner Acting Studio. Michelle Danner’s acting technique & philosophy called “The Golden Box” is based on the Meisner Technique, Lee Strasberg’s Method, Stella Adler, Stanislavski’s System, Uta Hagen, and the Chekhov technique. In this seminar you will learn to draw upon all different acting techniques to create you very own Golden Box.
The Golden Box will teach you how to get out of your head, follow your impulses, and begin to live completely in the moment. By finding your own unique emotional triggers, you will learn to access your full range of feelings and emotions at a moment’s notice.
Learn how to create vivid, fleshed out, and interesting characters through an intense and emotional workshop with lectures and technique exercises. Michelle teaches a technique that is effective for actors of various skill levels. Actors around the world have found success studying with Michelle because she takes the emphasis off the dogmatic method and helps actors discover their own creativity.
The class focuses on answering the following questions:
• Why are some choices more powerful than others?
• How does one deliver a raw unforgettable performance?
• What specific tools can be applied to film, television, and stage work?
• How does one develop a personal story from scratch and discover material for a one woman/man show, screenplay, short or novel?
The class will be supported by film clips. There are discussions and analyses of performances by Meryl Streep, Judi Dench, Anthony Hopkins, Al Pacino, Marlon Brando, James Dean and many others.
Exercises include learning how to build provocative and complex backstories by opening up your instrument emotionally and finding triggers and psychological gestures in your work. This class has served as more than an acting seminar as past participants have discovered profound truths about themselves as artists.
Golden Box I took Michelle’s Golden Box one of the best acting classes i have taken in a long time. I now have my own toolbox of acting tools. So much wisdom that will help me in my craft and career. I know how to work on my craft on my own outside of a class situation. I can use what works best for me from the different acting techniques. I have had a hard time to be completely open but in the exercises in class I was able to get out of my head and be completely connected to myself and my emotions, it was very emotional but I know that it really helped me, and finding my triggers is very important for my acting. I was reminded about my Why, Why I want to act, it is imprinted in my brain and heart but it is important to be reminded, to stay motivated and to keep my drive. Now that I have worked on my own backstory I feel like I can truthfully create a backstory for a character. The class also showed some really great acting moments with amazing actors, which was truly inspiring. It is always good to watch great acting and try to figure out what was great about it. I have all the tools and am very excited to use them and work on my acting. I am so glad and thankful for this inspiring class because I am now more connected to my craft.
