“3 Years ago, I decided to enrich my acting “toolbox” and join the Michelle Danner’s acting studio. I’m so happy that my instincts have led me to the right school. Originally, I applied for the one-month intensive course, but I fell in love with this school and couldn’t leave… 🙂 I decided to prolong my stay for one more month. , but still, there was so much left to learn and explore.
After a few months, I decided to come back and do the full program. The warmth and caring atmosphere, the great teachers and the variety of fascinating classes make the Michelle Danner acting studio the perfect “home” for actors.
Michelle has lots of experience and knowledge and she generously shares it with her students.
She knows the industry really well, coached and worked with known talented actors and always have exciting and interesting stories to tell. She always pushes us to challenge ourselves and explore different scenes, characters, emotions, feelings, physicality and sensual memories. She is a great inspiration and a wonderful teacher. I want to give a shout out to Derek Reid who teaches Improv and “On- Camera”. Derek is an amazing teacher and an amazing person. His accuracy, his knowledge, his attention to every detail, professionalism, wit and his incredible passion for acting made me grow as an actor and as a person. He also provides many opportunities that would build you as an actor. I participate in his great web series “Black Spiderman” as Ms. Marvel, I performed in many improv shows and comic – cons across California Performed in the musical “LA LA LANDO” which was a big success in the San Francisco Comic-Con, played the role of Vivienne in The Bond play ” From her eyes only” and many more.” – Meitar P.

“There are many good acting schools in Hollywood but none gave me as much confidence for auditions like Michelle Danner’s acting class. “Out of all the acting classes in los Angeles Michelle Danner’s film acting auditioning class truly helped to bring my acting career to the next level by increasing my booking ratio. This is my updated review on the acting classes after signing up for the 6 month the well rounded acting intensive at the michelle danner los Angeles acting school. i started off taking the golden box with michelle danner which was amazing, ever since then i have jumped into all the classes the school offers. this school literally trains an actor to learn and experience every aspect of acting. Comedy, Film & Camera Audition technique, voice, movement, acting techniques based on meisner, chekov, uta hagen, etc…
Michelle danner also teaches the business side of the industry, with a class called breaking into hollywood. the teachers are supportive and passionate that work in the industry and have graduated from prestigious performing arts school such as Yale drama school and Juliard. “I really wanted a Meisner program so i came to an informational session 6 months ago to meet with michelle danner and i was happy to find out that her acting school and her teaching is based on the Meisner Technique, Stella Adler, Stanislavski’s System, Uta Hagen, Lee Strasberg’s Method, and the Chekhov technique. Michelle Danner’s philosophy is to draw upon all different acting techniques so that we as actors can form our very own toolbox of our own that she calls the Golden Box. I signed up for the beginner well rounded acting training intensive and loving every minute of it. the school is very well connected to the industry and they have showcases for agents managers and industry. there are lots of networking industry events at the school. i have only been here for 5 months and have already participated in the comedy showcase and was invited to the red carpet premier of michelle danner’s latest movie, and i am currently shooting the web series the school produces. This week i received my film festival badge in order to attend cinema at the edge the yearly film festival the school produces. what i am striving for is to be ready to be accepted into the showcase that they perform every Friday and Saturday night.” – Oceane B.

“Fantastic and great acting technique class for any actor wanting to go deeply into character analysis and learning to use their emotion at will!
Despite the fact that i am an advanced actor I loved the golden box acting technique with Michelle Danner, it was extremely useful. Michelle Danner will give you: a tool box every actor needs with dozens of exercises, hundreds of useful tips, great friendly and conversational atmosphere and thousands of smart words and thoughts. this acting technique class was well worth my time.
She is a respected top acting coach and you can see why after taking this 2 day intensive.
Michelle showed the actors in the class so many advanced and special ways of working on developing characters, and learning to go deeper emotionally and on finding literally ANY emotion to be used in developing in dept multi layered characters.

“I am currently taking both the scene study and on camera audition class acting coach Michelle Danner. Scene study with Michelle Danner is essential to understanding the fundamentals of what an actor must know in every scene, whether it be on stage or on camera. Students are paired together and given material to work on. Each week every pair of students will present their work in front of the class. They will gain an understanding of every aspect of a scene, including the wants and needs of their character, the relationship to your scene partner’s character, the moment before/after, the arc of the scene, the triggers for your character, and so much more.
There is no single class more valuable or necessary than scene study, it is the foundation for bringing the words on the page to life!
The on camera audition class is the most effective way for actors to see exactly what works and perhaps more importantly, what does not work for them in front of the camera. Students are placed in a mock audition simulation and given material from popular films and television series. They are given limited time before the first taped audition in order to sharpen their cold read skills. After each student’s audition has been taped, the recordings are watched and critiqued by the teacher and the other students. After the actors receive their notes and direction, they are given more ample time to work on the material and make adjustments. Above all else, watching your own read on screen amongst peers is the most valuable aspect of this class. This is the most essential and informative class to any and every actor wanting to pursue on camera work.” – Randy B.

“I just began taking class at the Michelle Danner Acting Studio at Edgemar (formerly Known as the Larry Moss studio). I had been referred here about a year ago by a prospective talent manager and I finally came to an orientation session and the place is immaculate. Its beautiful, a place you would want to come train and perform as an actor.
As for actors and training they have amazing classes. I’m currently in Michelle Danner’s Scene study class and it was great. She was down to earth and really listening to her student’s needs. The space felt safe and at the same time pushing each actor past their comfort level. This is a great place for Actors to study, because 90% of the actors in this class are working!!! Success breeds success, put yourself among successful people, you’ll probably end up pretty successful yourself.
I also took Brad Garret’s (Everybody Loves Raymond) comedy sit -com class, and it was pretty cool to see such compassion from such a big guy 🙂 Great advice and a positive coaching technique. He’s a funny, funny guy.

Michelle Danner’s Golden Box is an intensive two day workshop that focuses teaching actors techniques to make use of their own emotional triggers and how to apply those techniques to characters in order humanize and legitimize them. To say the class is intense is an understatement. Ms. Danner finds ways of allowing actors to push past their own inhibitions and to touch upon their emotional foundations. This is done largely through a series of questions that probe the deeper levels of our identities as well as our relationships. Ms. Danner supports this process with insightful anecdotes from her long history in the industry as well as through case studies of important films and their actors.The greatest risk to the success of the workshop comes from its environment.
The path Ms. Danner takes us on is an incredibly personal one.
Actors may be willing to emote more than the layperson, but in teaching us to find our emotional core and how to apply it the characters we play, Ms. Danner pushes people to plumb the depths of their psyche in a way few people do outside of counseling. If the students were to feel uncomfortable in the group; if they felt in anyway judged or self-conscious, they would be unable to make the deep connections between their own identity and their characters, and to understand the ways in which a character can be made real through emotion. If this were to happen the main objective of the session would be unmet, and the class would be a waste.
Yet, in spite of the risk, making the classroom into a welcoming, supportive, loving environment is where Ms. Danner has her greatest success.
Through her conversational approach, she puts the students at ease. Through her long history in the business and her experience with titans of the acting world she establishes her expertise and the validity of her approach. Finally, and most importantly, through her respect for her students she creates an environment in which it is clear that the students not only have her support, but have the support of one another. Students soon benefit from the understanding of the innately collaborative experience of acting, that an actor emoting in a vacuum is not enough to make a show – that they need to rely on each other and to invest in each other to
create something great.
Aside from helping actors understand proper techniques of finding and justifying emotions, Ms. Danner demonstrated ways of interacting with the environment in emotive ways, provided suggestions on how to appropriately analyze scripts, and tips on navigating the industry. Over all the class was hugely helpful, not only in learning how to think about emotion and to properly emote, but in fostering an understanding of the world of acting as whole. What was perhaps most interesting about the class was its universality. The student make up included beginners as well as long-time actors, and Ms. Danner’s approach equally benefited all type of students. For beginners the workshop provided an accessible entry into perceptions of emotion and emotional triggers. On the other hand, advanced students were able to practice what they already know about emoting with the advantage of having someone who thoroughly understands the craft guiding them through the process.
