In this class you will receive acting tips to some of the most common asked questions for rising actors:

How do I get representation as an actor or actress?

  • Get some experience under your belt.
  • Do showcases, Broadway plays or student films.
  • Submit to Actors Access, Backstage or L.A casting. This will teach you how to audition, compete and book.

What Makes a Good Professional Headshot?

  • Make sure it looks like YOU
  • Capture more than just your head, include hairline, chin and neck
  • Go portrait not landscape
  • Make sure its in color
  • Look at the camera, your eyes are the most important part of the headshot

How do I format my resume? What do I put in it?

  • It is imperative that your resume is easy to read in no more than eight seconds.
  • It should convey to the agent or CD what your strongest training and credits are.
  • The most professional structure for an acting resume is three columns.
  • Include the size of the role using key terms such as starring, co-starring, supporting, featured, or recurring.
  • Skills should include sports and activities, dialects and languages, this increases your chances of being cast

Union vs Non-union, Do I have to be a union member to book work?

  • You do not have to be a union member to book work.
  • There are a plethora of non- union jobs, which is highly recommended to gain experience i.e commercials
  • After you’ve gotten exposure, joining a union will be a breeze, if not a costly one.

Self Confidence is a Must

  • Understand and trust your own capabilities on the stage.
  • Don’t allow other’s opinion of you affect your opinion of yourself.
  • Focus on the objective, not the outcome.

When Auditioning

  • Always bring a picture and resume with an email address included so you can be reached
  • Don’t make excuses
  • Be able to make decisions when asked, be assertive/direct
  • Don’t take the last audition times of the day. The earlier the better
  • Don’t start over, if you mess up just keep going
  • Keep auditioning. Practice is the best teacher
How can an actor find a talent agency?
  1. Do your research. Talk to your actor friends, talk to your teachers, read industry articles, use IMDbPro, and google local SAG-AFTRA agents.
  2. Make sure you’re submitting to acting agencies that represent your type.
  3. Familiarize yourself with the major agencies in your market.
  4.  If you’re in Los Angeles, that includes CESD Talent Agency and Hyperion;
