French-Canadian, Kathryn Masters lands Hollywood film costarring with The Breakfast Club’s Judd Nelson.
PLEASE BEGIN WITH A BRIEF INTRODUCTION OF YOURSELF?
I’m a twenty-two year old French-Canadian actress who was born and raised in a small town on the East Coast of Canada. Since the beginning, I always knew that the entertainment industry was where I belonged, which is what lead me here; now living in beautiful Los Angeles, at the Michelle Danner Los Angeles Acting School making my dreams come true.
WHAT FIRST DREW YOU TO ACTING?
When I was seven years old, I was introduced to the movie “Passport to Paris” (1999) starring Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen. This was the first time that I clearly remember thinking to myself, at such a young age, that I wanted to live the same adventurous life as these girls. I was a die-hard Olsen Twins fan for as long as I can remember. My older cousin and I would then create dances, plays and skits, wear the craziest costumes and invite our family members to spectate. I have hours and hours of hilarious footage throughout the years on VHS!
But it was in my teens when I also discovered my passion for music. I took years of singing lessons and participated in numerous festivals and competitions. I knew right there and then that acting was what I was born for because my love for entertaining was only growing bigger and bigger.
WHAT WAS YOU PERFORMANCE EDUCATION LIKE?
Right after high school, I enrolled at my local French University where I thought I’d be spending the next four years of my life majoring in French Theatre. During my freshman year, I slowly realized that as much as I loved theatre, my heart belonged to Film and Television.
I then attended the Toronto Film School and graduated with a diploma in Acting for Film, TV and Theatre. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience as a student at this acting school. The school blended a focus on film acting with the critical foundations of stage technique and their specific acting classes helped me explore and understand each individual aspect of acting technique. This intensive program really helped me prepare myself for what they call the “Real World”. I’m very lucky to say that my overall performance education has been absolutely amazing!
DESCRIBING YOUR EXPERIENCE AT THE SCHOOL, IN CLASS, AT EVENTS, ETC.
Taking classes at the Michelle Danner Los Angeles Acting School has been such a great experience! I’ve already met a ton of people in the industry (actors, directors and writers), some of which I’ve already started talks with in collaborating together. I also attended the CATE Independent Film Festival in early April at the Edgemar Center for the Arts and had a ton of fun watching feature length films, short films as well as some documentaries. Overall, my experience at this Los Angeles Acting School has been outstanding!
And for our readers, please look forward to more interviews with aspiring actors and dreamers as we share what stories our students bring from their homes and journeys. More to come from Michelle Danner’s acting school !
