What does the Meisner Technique Teach?

LEARN ONE OF THE ACTING TECHNIQUES THAT HELPS CREATE POWERFUL AND TRUTHFUL ACTORS.

This intensive course will teach you to get out of your head and act truthfully and instinctively from your gut. Actors will learn to be truly present in the moment and to be specific and detailed in their acting choices.

You will learn the foundation of Sanford Meisner: Exercises in repetition, independent activities, emotional preparation & scene work.

The second half of the Meisner Summer Intensive consists of scene and monologue work, during which time you will apply what you have learned in the exercises to your roles.

The training begins with an intensive improvisational work, including the ”Repetition Exercise” in which actors learn to take the attention off themselves and put it on their partners’ real behavior, allowing it to affect them and cause a truthful reaction.

Students then apply this strong beginning in their ability to “live truthfully” to modern scene work.

Wednesday 6pm-8pm or Friday 12:30-2:30pm or 2:30pm-4:30pm

The Michelle Danner Acting Studio’s philosophy is that artists can draw upon all different acting techniques and form an individual toolbox, their own Golden Box. We will help you to develop your own “Golden Box” of techniques and tools that you can use when approaching a role or a scene, whether it be for film, television, or theater. The Acting School’s acting techniques are based on Meisner, Strasberg, Adler, Hagen, Chekhov & the Stanislavsky Technique.

Michelle Danner is an international film director & acting coach. Her student list includes James Franco, Seth MacFarlane, Salma Hayek, Henry Cavill, Zooey Deschanel, Gerard Butler, Chris Rock, Chris Martin, Penelope Cruz, Michael Pena, Michelle Rodriguez, Kate Del Castillo and many others. Michelle trained with Stella Adler and Uta Hagen. She teaches internationally in Europe, Toronto, Vancouver, Dubai, and New York. She was voted favorite acting coach by Backstage readers. She’s also directed Hello Herman, starring Norman Reedus from the Walking Dead.

The film opened nationwide with simultaneous availability on VOD in 100 million homes and premiered at the Hollywood Film Festival and won the award for Socially Relevant Film at the Monaco Charity Film Festival. Her production company, All in Films, produced her latest film The Bandit Hound which was released in 2016 and is in development for several upcoming projects: The Bandit Hound 2, and The Will To.
