Audition Tips
You should approach an audition in the same way you approach a date. Both have the potential to turn into something big and fulfilling. But if you approach a first date with the expectation of instantly falling madly in love and finding your soulmate, the other person on that date is going to pick up on your intensity and that’ll be a turnoff. By fixating on the big potential gains that you could reap, you come off as a bit creepy, and trying to force something that you have no reason to expect. In an audition, you run the same risk. If all you are thinking about going into an audition is what the payoffs could be or the opportunities that will come, you are missing the opportunity to enjoy the material you have then and there, and casting directors will notice.
In an audition, just like on a date, you will do the best if you look like you are happy to be there, enjoy the process (in spite of, or even because of the weirdness of the whole situation), and engage in the present with who you are with and what you are doing with them.
