FEMALE/FEMALE ACTING SCENES

Bridesmaids

Annie is unlucky in love but when her best friend Lillian gets engaged and asks her to be her maid of honor, she's thrilled. At the engagement party however, she realizes she has a rival - Helen, a bridesmaid who also claims Lillian as her BFF. She is also rich, attractive, articulate and someone who is comfortable as the center of attention. Everything Annie touches goes wrong. She arranges for the bridesmaids' lunch at a restaurant in a seedy part of town and everyone - except Helen, who ate a salad - gets food poisoning. She then takes them all to a posh dress shop only to find she needed to make a reservation way ahead of time - but Helen, of course, knows the manager and with her intervention they're whisked right in. It gets to the point where everyone is stressed to the limit and Annie and Lillian have a falling out putting all the plans in doubt.

ANNIE:

HI. I’m Annie Walker. I’m not going to give a big speech so I just… I’m so happy to be pat of this celebration. You two deserve each other as well as a lifetime of happiness. Cheers. I love you guys.

HELEN:

Thank you Annie. That was so sweet. Thank you. Lil, remember that trip we took to Miami with the boys and they were working the entire weekend and we just sat and drank wine and eat peanut brittle and I shared things with you that I’ve never shared with anyone. You made me realize how I can trust people again. Let me just say, Lil, you’re my best friend and I’m so proud of you. And Dudley, I’m sorry inside joke, you better not keep my Lil on a leash cause I still need my drunken Saturday nights at Rock and Sushi Okay! Everybody raise your classes to the couple of the decade, Doug and Lilian. Whooo! Have a great night, dessert wine is out.

ANNIE:

I just wanted to say really quick that you’re so special to me because, well one of the reasons is because I’ve known you my whole entire life and you’ve really helped shape who I am. I just want to thank you for carefully selecting me to be your maid of honor. I know you had some other choices but you’re like my sister and I love you. Well, that concludes the speeches for the night.

HELEN:

Thank you. One last thing. It’s rare to meet someone as an adult that you really connect with and that’s you, Lil. I went to Thailand recently with my husband Perry and there’s this beautiful saying that I learnt there, Kun Ben Sung Nung Kun Chung. Sun Chung…… It means you are a part of me a part I could never life without and I hope and I pray that I never have to. Kup Kun Ka. Kup Kun Ka. And that’s it for tonight. Thank you for coming. Thank you all for coming dessert wine is up. Conseulo?

ANNIE:

Really quick. Speaking of Consuelo, Lilian and I took Spanish together in high school and so I’d just like to say to you and to everyone here, Gracias par livare la casa. And los  en a sol. Tines con….and Gracias.

HELEN:

Thank you. I feel so close to you and can trust you. You’re my angel and my soulmate and I feel I can communicate with you with only a look. Thank you all for coming

ANNIE:

Lilian (pause for look). Keep smiling keep shining. Knowing you can always count on me for sure. (Singing) That’s what friends are for.

ANNIE & HELEN:

Through good times and bad times I’ll be by your side forever more. That’s what friends are for……
