I don´t think you can choose the profession of acting for the money. I mean I understand you have to pay bills and that of course needs to happen. But you can´t choose that art form because you want to be rich. You want to make money. You have to choose it because you love doing it. And there are so many examples of people that have flown themselves to a certain city to meet in person with the director to persuade them that they´re right for that part or somebody that has invested and paid for their own production or their own movie just to show that they could play a different part and what people think of what they can play.
So don´t put a price tag on a project? We always hear about people between TV series doing free projects or short films with friends just so that they´re active. Absolutely. I have many friends that in between television jobs and in between movies are constantly on stage or constantly volunteering to be on a friend´s web series for free. You know if you love to act, you love to act. Period. Coaching celebrity actors by Michelle DannerSpeaking of great talents. You worked with so many of them. If you go your website you have a long list of people that you have worked with. In what capacity were you working with those individuals? Like James Franco, Penelope Cruz, different things like that.
Acting for the money
Yes I have worked as a coach. I have coached different actors and very well known actors on different projects. On Broadway, on movie roles, on television series and also as a director, I have worked with some pretty amazing talent. Norman Reedus just now yes I have Norman Reedus in this movie that´s just out Hello Herman, Jason Alexander, Isa Moralis, Ron Perman. I have just a list of amazing actors that I have had the luck and the honor to work with. In what capacity are you working with them? Is it for a role and you´re on set…
In terms of coaching? Well it varies. An actor will come to me whether they have booked the role and maybe something that is challenging. A character that is a stretch or something that scares them you know in terms of the story. Or a role that they are trying to get. That they´re screen-testing for that they are auditioning for. And so actors come to me in different capacities. And how is it for you to work with someone that´s done so many roles vs. maybe someone that´s never even been to school for acting. Is your approach different in some sense? I would imagine it would be.
It is of course, it´s different if I´m working with somebody that even has not worked a lot, but let´s say that they are a young star from the Disney Chanel. Or if I´m working with someone that won an Oscar. Absolutely. You intuitively work with people depending on who they are, their body of work and also what you´re talking about. What´s the project? What help do they need? I mean I think to be an acting coach is to say “how can I help you”?
